IMP: IPOD TOUCH WITHOUT SPEAKERS WILL NOT WORK !

This not only surprises the person who is trying to steal it, but also alerts nearby people. Just like a car alarm. If you are nearby, you can run back at the alarm. The Thief Alert app uses the inbuilt accelerometer to detect movement and the alarm goes off for 5 seconds EVERY TIME it detects significant movement.

NOW PRESSING HOME WILL NOT STOP THE APP. Every few seconds, the alarm sound will play till you DE-ACTIVATE ALARM WITH SECRET PASSCODE which only you will know.


NOW SET ANY PICTURE from your picture gallery as the background ! Alternatively choose from a preselected set of background images.

A nice deterrent for sure and definitely worth a try ! If you like it, tell everyone. If you do not like it, please tell us and we will include your feedback in our next update.


Few points:
1) The app disables auto-lock. So it will work even if the iPhone is left alone for a long time.

2) The alarm is 5 seconds by design. It is fired every time motion is detected. So if someone is lifting it and running away, it will continuously alert you.

3) Pressing the home button will NOT stop the app.

4) In the version 1.1 update, various settings were added.
a) Set a delay before the motion detection starts. So you get time to place your iPhone before the detection starts.

b) As the auto-lock is disabled at the start, few were concerned about the thief getting access to your data without the password lock. Now you can enable the feature where at the first alarm / movement detection, the idle timer is started again. So if your screen saver / auto lock was set to 1 minute, in a minute, the screen will lock (configured from iPhone settings). So by the time the thief gets to access your phone/ iPod, the password lock would kick in. (thanks for the review).

5) If technically possible and useful, requested features will be added in newer updates. So thank you once again for the support.

HIDING PICTURES

EMAIL
Direct email feature is experimental because Apple did not support sending attachments with 3rd party applications in OS 2.2.1. It works emailing directly from iPhone or iPod to another iPhone or iPod, but images may be removed by other email clients. Specifically, web based email clients will likely not be able to receive images. Apple has added email support to OS 3.0, so this feature is now in the process of being added.

MMS SUPPORT
Apple does not allow developers access to the SMS or MMS messaging system on the iPhone.

NOTE ON EXPORTING
If you imported pictures on a jailbroken iPhone, then you will probably not be able to export from within the application. Jailbreaking removes all security protection, alters permissions on the iPhone, and results in unpredictable behavior. For this reason, the application is not supported on jailbroken devices. A workaround to export those pictures is to view full screen, then take a screenshot (press the top and home button at the same time and release). This will place a copy of the picture in your Photos library. However, you will have screen resolution, not the full original resolution you would have exporting from the application.

Want to make sure a deleted confidential email or embarrassing photo is purged forever from your iPhone, but don't want to go through the inconvenience of wiping the entire device? Simply deleting a file doesn't guarantee it's gone for good. Protect your deleted data from being recovered by hacking tools and prying eyes, or in the event your iPhone is stolen.

iErase is a simple utility for zeroing out the free space on your iPhone without performing a full reset of your content and settings. The tool does not delete any live files, but uses the same method that Mac OS X uses to zero free space: it creates a large temporary file, which writes zeroes over the free space where deleted files can still reside. On the iPhone, this occurs within the application's sandbox, but because all applications share the same free space, the entire iPhone user partition is cleansed, forever purging deleted photos, email, voicemail, and other deleted files - without having to reset all your content and settings.

While purging free space, iErase will temporarily fill up your disk with zeroed data. Towards completion, the iPhone will inform you that you are running out of free space. Allow the application to finish. Once complete, all space will be freed up again. If, by some strange circumstance, you suffer a complete failure of the application, simply removing it and reinstalling it will free up any free space it previously filled.

This helpful utility can be run periodically to effortlessly clear out old data and ensure it is beyond recovery. Because it doesn't erase your content or settings, you won't spend extra time restoring everything back onto your device, and the operation itself can take up less time than a full erase because it only operates on free space.

Let it run while connected to a power source. Actual erase time varies depending on the amount of free space on the device. If you receive a phone call while iErase is running, it will pause and simply continue when you're finished. Version 1.1 now runs under lock.
